We believe in clarity and in an approach where the Client participates as a full team member in the project's conceptualization. We seek to provide an appropriate forum for professional insight, advice and the study of alternatives.

Recognizing the importance of research to our work, we study available literature pertaining to the facility type and seek the advice of the Client concerning the findings of that research. Research tours are taken when warranted, which often help establish a common language and information base between our Clients and ourselves.

We share a commitment to design in a way that responds to requirements of energy conservation and operational costs. We also believe in clarity of budget and schedule. We engage cost control specialists to estimate the value of the work at pivotal points in the design process.

As a result, issues for policy discussion and lines of communication are opened early so that time is gained to permit resolution of the design with care. We believe clear communication consistently results in good design and common sense decisions, rather than compromise. Finally, we approach each commission afresh, without the constraints of preconceived ideas. We are singleminded in seeking a design solution which emerges naturally, yet inevitably, from the pressure of the facts, as well as from the dictates of our collective imagination.
